Getting Here:
OPTION 1: Have your yacht positioned to the calm, protected waters of the Gulf Islands, and fly in and out to meet it. Private jets can utilize Nanaimo or Victoria International Airports. Scheduled commercial flights may be available to either airport. Seaplanes may be chartered from Vancouver BC or Seattle WA USA. From Vancouver, a private seaplane charter flying time could be as short as 20 minutes to the Eastern edge of the Gulf Islands (for example Montague Harbour on Galiano Island), covering a distance that would take hours by yacht.
OPTION 2: On a larger yacht, you could begin and/or end in Vancouver, but please note this requires several hours crossing the open waters of the Straight of Georgia (at approx. 110 miles by 40 miles wide, these waters are not always calm).
Fun fact:
Captain Vancouver mistakenly named the Straight of Georgia as the “Gulf of Georgia,” but the Gulf Islands name remains!
