A client chartering a 39m / 127’ Hakvoort Motor Yacht with us wrote:

The Ionian Sea offers a remarkable level of tranquility, seclusion and privacy.  Enjoy  the fabulous scenery, and the supremely protected, extremely calm waters for a large portion of the area.

I personally chartered in the Ionians for the first two weeks of August one year with friends, and we fell utterly and completely in love.

The islands here are treed, as the climate is more lush than other areas in Greece.  The wonderful scent of these trees drifts out over the waters at times.

For a one way itinerary, starting your charter in Corfu and ending Lefkas (adjacent to PVK airport), or the reverse, is a prime option.  Flying commercial, you can connect through Europe as an alternative to Athens.

Other islands include Paxos, Antipaxos, and the former Onassis private family island of Skorpios where we swam right in front of Jacqueline’s Beach House!  Fiskardo is a magical village on the island of Cephalonia (Kefalonia) where the movie “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin” was filmed.  The island of Ithaca is generally identified with Homer’s “Ithaca,” the home of Odysseus, whose delayed return to the island is the plot of the Odyssey.

The Captain for a world famous celebrity yacht owner once told me, “The Ionian is his favorite place in the Med due to the privacy and seclusion.”  You may agree!
