Juneau – Tracy Arm Glaciers – Juneau, 7 Nights
Luxury Yacht Charter in Alaska
Day 1
Juneau
Depart Juneau after a quick tour of Alaska’s capital city. Depending on departure time, we will anchor in either Taku Harbor (~20 nautical miles) or No Name Bay (~40 nautical miles). Taku Harbor is a quiet anchorage with old cannery remnants, good walking paths and the potential for some fishing just outside of the harbor entrance. No Name is just inside the entrance to Tracy Arm and will position us for the North & South Sawyer glaciers tomorrow.
Day 2
Tracy Arm
We will spend the day cruising to see the 2 amazing glaciers at the head of Tracy Arm. Over the course of the day, we will cruise through the fjord that is Tracy Arm, play in majestic waterfalls and see 200’+ glacier faces.
Day 3
Endicott Arm or Admiralty Island
Day 3 can be spent cruising up Endicott Arm for more glacier viewing or heading to Pybus Bay on Admiralty Island across Stephens Passage. As we cruise across Stephens Passage, we will be keeping a sharp lookout for whales. Both Humpback and Orca whales inhabit the area searching for food.
Day 4
Cannery Cove
40 nautical miles
Pybus Bay has several different anchorages and we will anchor in Cannery Cove, which offers great protection for kayaking, shore walks, tributaries with feeding bears and a great base location for fishing. It’s also a short sport boat ride to Kake, the nearest town.
Day 5
Warm Springs Bay, Baranof Island
35 nautical miles
Moving West, we’ll continue on to Warm Springs Bay on the East side of Baranof Island. The natural spring runs to a tub that sits alongside a massive waterfall. Warm Springs Bay offers some great kayaking, a beautiful backdrop and easy access to fishing in Chatham Strait.
Day 6
Icy Straight, Chatham Strait, Peril Straight
70 nautical miles
From Warm Springs Bay we will begin our travels back North toward Icy Strait & northern Chatham Strait. En route, we will be passing the mouth of Peril Strait, which has historically had whale-viewing opportunities. One of our favorites, Mole Harbor, is tucked away and offers crabbing and easy runs to the fishing grounds. With a few homes around the shoreline, it begins easing us back into the reality of the rest of the world.
Day 7
Stephens Passage
40 nautical miles
Rounding Point Retreat will put us in view of the North end of Juneau, but still a lifetime away. Orca whales are very typically seen in the waters of Stephens Passage around Auke Bay. We will anchor behind Horse Island and hope for some curious visitors as you soak up the last of your journey.
Day 8
Disembark in Juneau
30 nautical miles
The last day will take us back to Juneau via Gastineau Channel
Scenic Flights
A scenic flight is a wonderful addition to an Alaska yacht charter. It’s best to fly in clear weather, so we recommend that guests let the crew arrange a spectacular flight-seeing tour during the charter based on the weather. If you are interested in a helicopter tour up to a glacier with a Dog Sled experience, please let us know as you book your charter, because these sell out quickly.
