Crew Profile

SEA MIST charters with 3 crew.

Captain / Owner Jeff Gorton

With Captain Jeff at the helm, you will always have “locals only” access to some of Alaska’s greatest hidden gems. A lifelong Alaskan, Jeff has been navigating these waters for decades. He started his ocean career at a young 15 years old, running local boats and working local lodges. He purchased his first ocean vessel five years later, spending the next two decades cruising around the Prince William Sound and Southeast Alaska. Jeff is a recent retiree who worked in the North Slope oil fields for 15 years. During his career, he would spend his two weeks on the oil fields working and his two weeks off boating. Over time, Jeff led various river floating trips and fishing charters. He currently holds a 50-Ton US Coast Guard Master’s License and is both CPR and First Aid certified. Born in Montana, Jeff moved to Alaska at one year old. He has lived in Anchorage ever since. He has three boys who also share his love of the sea and encouraged the lessons of living outdoors through hunting, fishing, snow-machining and working on their cabin. Jeff also has a pilot's license and enjoys flying with his son who is also a pilot.

Carly, Crew Member
Carly was born in Macomb, Michigan where she attended Michigan State University and got a degree in Hospitality. Carly has worked in restaurants and private country clubs since she was fifteen. Her passion revolves around creating memorable experiences for others. She’s a hard worker who loves learning new things. In her free time, Carly enjoys trying new food, reading mystery novels, and "The Barre Code" workouts.

Additional Information

2021 client comments:
“I cannot put into words how completely satisfied we all were with our Sea Mist journey. Jeff was always full of stories, Kate was not only adorable but one of the most accomplished young persons I’ve ever met. And our chef was magnificent – what a chef! Everything we ate, every time we ate, it was always accompanied with all of us making “ yummy” sounds with every bite. We sounded like a heard of cows. We were fortunate on our first day to see Orca Whales, Humpback whales bubble net feeding and Dall Porpoises. Most importantly, the boat was filled with laughter and good times were had by all. It truly was a once in a lifetime trip.” – Private Group, June 2021

SEA MIST has outstanding view windows for views in all directions on the main deck, both from the main salon / dining area with side and aft views, and the wheelhouse forward with forward and side views.

She is a 78-foot Knight and Carver custom built yacht, with a beautiful wood interior with Koa wood trim.  She was custom built for a 6′ 8″ Owner, so she has exceptionally high ceilings and interior volume.

The outdoor top deck has 360 degree views. A bimini top has recently been added there, for shade and rain protection, and is only shown in one photo.
