Crew Profile

Lady Marigot is managed by a fully Saint Lucian crew with years of sailing, hospitality, & operations expertise. Together, the crew has traveled to 45 unique countries, as well as having made four trans-Atlantic crossings between them. They have sailed all across the Caribbean and specialize in the Windward Islands.
With their mastery of Lady Marigot and unrivaled knowledge of St. Vincent & the Grenadines, our crew will provide an unparalleled and truly authentic charter experience!
Captain: Francis McLawrence
With over 46 years of captaining experience, Francis found his love for the sea at a young age - at just six months old, he crossed from St. Lucia to Barbados with his father and never looked back, spending every school vacation thereafter at sea. He has captained a wide-range of ships, from catamarans, power-yachts, to even tug-boats. Captain Francis has done it all - yacht charters, sport & commercial fishing, shipping, & pleasure sails! He has obtained an array of boating qualifications, including but not limited to Boat Master License, Celestial Navigation Certification, and Basic Electronics.
First trained to sail using a sextant and star charts, Francis is one of the few mariners who upholds the tradition of celestial navigation and has crossed the Atlantic by catamaran.
Well read, Francis brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise onboard. He is well versed in Caribbean history, local flora and fauna (by land and by sea), and the evolution and traditions of sailing. Young at heart, Francis is always excited to learn and brings both energy and experience to every charter – as well as more than a few great stories!
In his free time, Captain Francis designs and builds custom ships made of recycled plastic, old dinghies, & plywood. He plays bass guitar and enjoys science fiction.
Chef: George Henry
George has over 30 years of culinary expertise, mastering the preparation of local cuisine while serving world class dishes for all to enjoy! Prior to his decade as Head Chef on Lady Marigot, George worked for numerous resorts, yachts, and kitchens in every role. He was Head Chef onboard a crewed Oyster 56 and 72, Head Chef at Hummingbird Beach Resort, Sous Chef at Sandals Grand St. Lucian, and has also worked as a Chef at Anse Chastanet. Additionally, his experience as Head Chef for the Corporate Cantina at Flow, the biggest telecommunications company in St. Lucia, speaks to his ability to plan and manage any desired dining experience.
Trained in London, George's specialty dishes include freshly prepared fish and local Caribbean cuisine with fresh ingredients and a foreign flair. Additionally, with his time working onboard with the American Owners of Lady Marigot, George can cook a variety of international dishes.
George's primary responsibility when he isn't cooking is guest services on Lady Marigot, which includes assisting with preparation of the guest areas and arranging excursions.
Whether it is the annual lady’s trip for friends of forty years, young family excursions, honeymoons, or reunions for college pals, each charter George oversees is kept clean, well managed, and filled with fun. His meticulous attention to detail and friendly demeanor makes him the ultimate companion and a fantastic host on any charter.
In his spare time, George enjoys hiking, ziplining, and fishing.
Deckhand: Devon Popo
Devon is 31 years old and works seamlessly with Captain Francis and Chef George to ensure a smooth charter. While sailing is his passion, Devon also farms the bountiful Saint Lucian soil. His hobbies include cycling, hiking, cricket, football, and fishing. Affable & endearing, Devon is a charming young man whose youthfulness is an exceptional addition to the crew - just wait to be impressed by the friends he has made, and continues to make, all across the Caribbean!
Qualifications: STCW; Hospitality Training Course from Jade Mountain, St Lucia; Refrigeration and Mechanical Repairs Certification.
2023 / 24 Season -

Known as Captain Ben, Ruben Prince is a dependable, experienced skipper who has been working onboard boats his entire life. Ben has sailed with people from all over and cares deeply about each of his clients. He is a large, lovable sailor! Ben has worked on Lady Marigot for many years as a relief captain to Francis and has worked alongside both of the crew on numerous occasions.
Qualifications: Yacht-master, STCW, License of Competence to Merchant Marine Officer.
Additional Information
Lady Marigot is named after what the novelist James Michener hailed as 'the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean'- Marigot Bay, Saint Lucia. She is a spacious Privilege catamaran with an elegant finish, comfortable seating, and excellent sailing performance...our ship sails quick! The captain and two crew, with years of hospitality and onboard experience, provide a truly authentic Caribbean charter and each from St Lucia, all three have spent their lives sailing there, the Grenadines, and the Lesser Antilles.
For guests who are looking to explore sheltered cays, quiet beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and bustling tropical markets, Lady Marigot and her crew will take you on an unmatched adventure to both the hidden gems and popular destinations of St. Vincent & the Grenadines!
Lady Marigot's spacious decking offers sunbathing mattresses located either side of the cockpit; bean bags, trampolines, and plenty of space further forward; two seats at the bow to enjoy a glass of wine and watch for dolphins. For active guests, there are tubes, inflatables, towable toys, snorkeling gear, yoga mats and paddle boards. A 60HP tender allows for speeding to the smaller islands and beaches, such as the Tobago Cays Turtle Sanctuary or a beachside lobster BBQ.
On entering the interior, the cherry-wood saloon has plenty of light, multiple seating areas - for coffee and dinner - a large TV, sofa, and a well-placed wet bar for the crew to prepare drinks and cocktails. With the galley down in the starboard hull, guests will have even more room to socialize and relax. Guests typically dine outside in the expansive cockpit seating area.
There are two King and three Queen cabins onboard. All cabins in Port and Starboard hull have ensuite dry shower and separate head. The Central Queen Cabin has a wet head. The cabins are spacious with plenty of storage, air conditioning and child safe fans. Two crew would typically stay in the central queen cabin but can to the forward starboard cabin if guests wish. The captain has his own separate accommodation and heads forward.
During 2022 - 2023 Lady Marigot has been equipped with new teak decks, new windlasses, new galley equipment, a new hull gelcoat, new linens and additional new water-sports equipment.
Lady Marigot has been designed as a fast, luxurious yacht offering an opulent interior space, beautiful lines, and flat uncluttered decks with plenty of room to sunbathe. Sailing performance should not be overlooked - she will match and outpace even the lightest of catamarans on the water!
