1LORENA Crew Profiles
CAPTAIN- STEWART MITCHELL- AMERICAN
For over two decades, Capt. Stewart has made his life on the water. What began in 2001 as a deckhand teaching clients to sport fish off Fort Lauderdale has grown into a twenty five year career commanding vessels across the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and the US East Coast.
Captain Stewart currently serves as Master aboard the 90' 1Lorena, overseeing everything from engineering and maintenance to provisioning, guest service, and guiding fishing, diving, and spearfishing excursions on charter. His career reads like a tour of yachting itself, from running a 155ft motor yacht through long range deliveries and shipyard periods, to captaining a 42ft sloop on an offshore passage from St. Thomas to New England, to leading engineering operations on a 112ft vessel with a full time crew under his charge.
Licensed as a Master of Yachts up to 200 tons, Stewart brings hands on expertise in navigation, vessel systems, and crew leadership, paired with a genuine passion for putting guests in the middle of the action, whether that means a mothership bonefishing expedition or a sunset dive.
STEWARDESS- BROOKE BULAS- AMERICAN
Brooke brings a blend of polish and genuine warmth to every yacht she steps aboard. Her path to the stewardess role has been anything but ordinary, shaped by years in hospitality, from managing a company of twenty hair salons to running VIP service at a nightclub, before she found her true calling on the water.
Since stepping into yachting, Brooke has worked across a wide range of vessels, currently serving as sole stewardess aboard the 90’ Riva Kiyomizu and the 90’ Sunseeker 1Lorena. Her experience spans freelance and daywork positions on yachts from 43 meters down to 54ft catamarans, along with deckhand and mate work on day charters, where she’s just as comfortable handling lines and mooring balls as she is mixing a cocktail for a guest. Her bartending roots run deep, honed behind the bar at charter stops throughout Saint Thomas, USVI.
Brooke pairs her sharp eye for detail and natural organization with a true gift for hospitality, creating an onboard experience that feels effortless for every guest.
MATE- MICHAEL FISHMAN- AMERICAN
What started as a kid chasing sailfish off South Florida has turned into a career that reads more like an adventure log than a resume, running everything from classic wooden motor yachts to sleek sport cruisers across the Bahamas and the East Coast.
Right now, Michael splits his time between three very different boats, prepping and captaining the 90’ Sunseeker 1Lorena on runs to St. Thomas, guiding guests through the Exuma islands aboard the 83ft Fujimo, and steering the 80ft Selah down the winding New River before opening it up on the run to Bimini. Somewhere in between, he spent a summer piloting a 43ft center console through the Exumas and Abacos with a family who clearly knew how to vacation, and brought a 1947 Trumpy back from the brink with a four year, nail by nail refit.
Michael is just as happy with a rod in his hand as he is at the helm. He’s chased swordfish at night, kite fished live bait, deep dropped for snapper, and worked his way from the Keys to Charleston and even ice fishing in Wisconsin, so when guests want to fish, he’s the guy who actually knows where the fish are. Add in his comfort with engines, fiberglass, and the occasional full vessel refit, and you get a captain who treats every boat like a personal project, not just a paycheck.
